1/23/19 Wednesday
Today I was re-introduced to the rest of the mon-wed- Fri children. Many of them recognized me and one spent a lot of time around me as well. We had a new child come from another daycare and she adjusted fairly well.
Today was a busy day of classroom management and being flexible. I sued positive re-direction and a firm voice to help the students understand the purpose of why I'm talking to them.
I think one of the best parts of the day was spending time outside with the children. They enjoy being in the snow and using the sleds. I was able to connect with all of them a bit more.
I worked with a new PKE teacher and lead a small group while Angie helped out in the restroom and with rest mats.
I feel the most difficult but also the most successful moment was working with the new child during rest time. She was very resistant to taking a nap and I had to work with her to calm down. She was unable to and I removed her from the classroom and redirected her in the hallway. I did try multiple times during rest but I was unsuccessful. I was proud though to have removed her and redirect her attention a few times so she could calm down.
